On December 9, 1531, the Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego and told him to have a temple built where she stood. He went to the bishop to relay the message, but was told to bring back a sign. On December 12, Mary told him to go to the rocks and collect the roses, although they didn't grow there and it was not the season for them. He collected them, placing them in his tilma where the Blessed Mother rearranged them. He brought them to the bishop, untouched and when revealing them, a picture of Our Lady appeared.Our Lady of Guadalupe, ora pro nobis.
